Timberton Village’s Emergency Management Chair, Bob Cross, shares the following message and attachment with you:
Fires in Timberton Village can endanger the lives and properties of any/all of us. Enlightened self interest and concern for our neighbors suggest we take precautions to increase our personal resilience to fire risks. Jefferson County has adopted a Washington state sponsored program called “Wildfire Ready Neighbors”. Don’t be confused by the term “Wildfire” in the program’s title: a fire that endangers you, yours, and your neighbors can occur in many ways. This program focuses on fire risks that are external to your home regardless of the fire’s source. The “Neighbors” part of the program title refers to the fact that reducing your own home’s risk from fire helps to make your neighbors safer from fire, too.
The program provides a free property inspection/review and a written report of issues the homeowner should address. A homeowner recently had such an inspection done of his property and has agreed to share the resulting report with his Timberton Village neighbors. There are links in the report to other resources the program offers.
For info on this program’s background, google the following search entry “Washington state’s Wildfire Ready Neighbors program history” and refer to the AI Overview that appears under the Google search hit https://www.scc.wa.gov/stories/wildfire-ready-neighbors.
