Broken Mailbox Lock and Prevention

We have one broken mailbox lock (McKenzie package box).  We will work to fix this as soon as possible, but it may take some time as it requires coordination between a locksmith and the post office.

YOUR HELP PLEASE:  Help us prevent other similar problems by reporting sticking or difficult locks before they result in actual breaks. If a lock is sticking, report it but DO NOT TRY TO FORCE THE LOCK.  In this case, the key broke off in the lock when the resident tried to force it to turn.  We understand the lock had been difficult to turn before this.  These repairs are both expensive and the responsibility of our community, as we own the boxes.

When the locksmith is here, we will ask what preventative measures might be taken.  In the meantime, if you are aware of any locks that are currently sticking, please let us know by using the Contact the Board option.  Describe the problem and include the location and box number (number on outside of individual “box”) as well as your phone number.  You may need you to unlock your box for the locksmith to check it.  Also, inspect your keys to be sure there are no cracks that might lead to keys broken off in the lock.

Please share this with any neighbors who may not receive our eblasts.  Thank you!
