A Howling Good Time Warning

Sounds like the coyotes are in the area again. They were howling late last night (Monday 11/2), the sound appeared to the Web Guy to be coming from the little forested area between Heritage and the lower end of Timber Ridge. Sounded like a small pack, maybe 3-4 of them.

This is the time of year that they get a bit hungry, and they aren’t above snatching small pets. So, a reminder to keep your pets close and on leash. And to ensure that you don’t have any pet food dishes outside. They like that, as do the bobcats and bears that are also around here.

Message from the TVHA Finance Committee

The finance committee is looking for member assistance with the development of a written policy to clarify the assessment dues invoicing process, including due dates, when payments are considered late, the assessment of late fees and penalties, and the property lien process for non-payment.  The goal of the policy is to ensure that homeowners are aware of the processes and repercussions if payment is not made in a timely fashion.

If you are interested, please contact Vicki Derrenberger at vderren25@yahoo.com

Background:

At the annual meeting held on June 29, 2015, the membership voted to modify the assessment dues invoicing schedule from quarterly to semi-annual. The change to semi-annual was made to reduce expense paid to the outside bookkeeping service.  Assessment dues invoices are emailed, a previous cost savings change, to homeowners twice a year. The first installment is for July-December and the second installment is for January-June.

TVHA assessment dues payments should be remitted to the address listed below.

New Medical Clinic

You may know that Jefferson Healthcare is working on plans for a new healthcare clinic that will be across the street from the bank. You may have noticed the new sign showing the proposed design on that corner.

Some residents have discovered more information.

As an introduction, we point you to the article at the Port Townsend Leader here. Some further information was found out by the folks on the Port Ludlow Village Health and Wellness Committee. Gunter Krume reports this information after he contacted Jefferson Healthcare for more information.

Well, I got a first response from Jefferson Healthcare and will be trying to get more details as the relevant decisions are made. I could imagine that the specific medical specialists rotating through the new Port Ludlow clinic would be important to many of us:

“4,000 square foot building is being located in the Village Market area at the corner of Paradise Road and Breaker Lane
The ground breaking we hope will be this year. We are waiting to hear from Port Ludlow Associates when this can be scheduled.
Once Port Ludlow Associates break ground (all permits approved), we understand it will be around 9 months from start to finished construction. So we anticipate being able to see patients in the mid to late 2016. We will plan to have a grand opening celebration for the new Port Ludlow Clinic.
Port Ludlow Associates (PLA) are the builders – Jefferson Healthcare will lease the building from PLA.
The facility will have the following:
• 6 exam rooms
• procedure room
• consultation office
• lab draw station
• X-ray services
• Community resource center
The clinic will have visiting specialists as well as ongoing primary care.”

Hood Canal Bridge Cables

A Timberton resident found an article about the cable replacement on the Hood Canal Bridge. The one that caused that big delay several weeks ago in getting the bridge open after a closure (The Web Guy took that ‘opportunity’ to take the scenic route home that day), and the work that is being done by those big tugs and ‘crane boats’.

The resident found it interesting, as did The Web Guy, a recent transplant. Here’s the article, in case you are interested. At the very least, you can appear knowledgeable about how the bridge works if the subject ever comes up.
